In response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we are doing all we can to be good employers and good neighbours. We are closely monitoring the changing situation and complying with the Public Health Agency of Canada, BC’s Provincial Health Office and WCB.
We encourage our guests to help us reduce the risk of infection. If you are coughing, sneezing, or have a fever, please stay home and self-isolate. Cough or sneeze into a tissue or the sleeve at the bend of your arm. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.

SANITATION

Increased cleaning and frequent disinfecting on all surfaces and high touch surfaces – counter tops, door handles, shopping baskets, pinpads, ATM etc. Disposable gloves are provided for cleaning and cash handling. Educating our staff daily on the increased sanitation protocols.

SAFETY

Consistent with government guidelines we are limiting the number of customers in our stores and enforcing social distancing with decals and tape separated by two metres.
Customers have access to hand sanitizer as they enter the store.
We have installed plexiglass shields at our checkout stations and staff have been provided with PPE – gloves and KN5 masks. Staff are required to either double mask or wear KN95 unless they are eating on their breaks. Only one staff member breaks at a time and their kitchen and eating area is sanitized after every use.
At checkout, to minimize the handling of the pinpad, customers can use tap for purchases of up to $250 with most credit cards.
We have posted mandatory mask and other signage in store to remind and encourage all customers to limit their trips to the store to once per week, one person per house hold, not to touch products that they are not buying and to keep a safe distance of at least 6 feet from others while in the store or lineups outside.

STAFF MEMBER HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

We are reinforcing with staff members vigilant hand washing before, throughout and after their shifts. Staff have been provided with personal protective equipment. We are providing support services to all our employees for counselling through HumanaCare.
Managers are required to send home any staff showing signs of covid symptoms and to report any such incidences to Head Office. Staff who are immune compromised are instructed to phone 811 to speak with a medical professional to determine whether they should be tested. Any fully vaccinated staff member who exhibits covid symptoms is required to self-isolate until they feel better, and they have no fever. Vaccinated staff who test positive are required to self-isolate for a minimum of 5 days and until their symptoms improve and they no longer have a fever. All staff who have worked for the company for 90 days are entitled to 5 paid sick days per year. We are working on an individual basis with staff to ensure minimal interruption to pay by issuing and advising on benefit applications. Staff who are immune compromised are instructed to phone 811 to speak with a medical professional to determine whether they should be tested.

We thank our staff and customers for their ongoing cooperation, patience, and loyalty.
